Chennai, September 15: The Srinagar media delegation visiting IIT Madras witnessed an advanced maritime simulation facility designed to recreate the environment of a ship’s bridge and provide an immersive platform for training, research and technological development.
The simulator features multiple large visual displays, navigation systems, steering controls and operational consoles, creating a realistic environment for maritime scenarios.
During the visit, journalists observed the simulator’s bridge-style configuration and the use of digital displays for navigation and operational monitoring.
The facility demonstrated how simulation technology can reduce dependence on real-world environments during training and research while providing controlled conditions for studying maritime operations.
The visit formed part of the delegation’s broader exposure to IIT Madras’s diverse technological capabilities, covering areas ranging from semiconductor technology and brain research to maritime systems and advanced materials.
The delegation noted that such programmes can play an important role in strengthening India’s technical manpower and creating wider access to advanced education.
