Chennai, September 15: Amid laboratories, research centres, startups and cutting-edge technologies, a pleasant surprise awaited the Srinagar media delegation during its visit to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras on Tuesday, as the journalists spotted deer moving freely through the institute’s lush green campus.
The 13-member media delegation, visiting Chennai under a media tour organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Srinagar, was witnessing IIT Madras’s impressive ecosystem of scientific research and technological innovation when the sight of deer in the campus added an unexpected and memorable dimension to the visit.
For the delegation members, seeing wildlife moving naturally within the premises of one of India’s premier technology and research institutions was a striking experience. Deer are more commonly associated with forests, wildlife reserves and protected natural areas, making their presence within the IIT Madras campus particularly noteworthy.
The sight highlighted the distinctive character of the IIT Madras campus, where academic excellence, scientific research, technological innovation and a natural environment exist side by side.
