Kulgam, July 08: Education Minister Sakeena Itoo today said the newly announced school timings in Kashmir are not final and could be revised based on public feedback.
“I am receiving calls from many parents concerned about the early school timings. Let me make it clear—this is not final. If adjustments are needed, we will make them,” Itoo told reporters during her visit to Kulgam.
She urged parents and students not to worry, emphasizing that the department’s priority is ensuring students complete the syllabus in time.
Itoo’s remarks come amid criticism from parents and students over the early morning schedule. The Education Department’s decision has drawn flak from the public, with many questioning the practicality of such timings.
On Monday, the minister had announced that all educational institutions across Kashmir would reopen on Tuesday following the summer vacation. As per the government order, schools located in municipal areas—ranging from primary to Class 12—will function from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Schools in rural areas will operate from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
She also stated that students above the primary level will be expected to attend online classes for two hours in the afternoon after taking an hour-long break upon returning home.
