Sopore, 11 May 2026: J&K BJP General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul addressed a “Nasha Mukht Abhiyaan” programme at Dakbunglow Sopore in Baramulla district of Kashmir, organized by the Jammu Kashmir Development Foundation, and called for a united social movement against the growing menace of drug abuse. He also participated in a plantation drive at Dakbunglow Park, Sopore, promoting environmental protection and sustainable living.

J&K Waqf Board Chairperson Dr. Darakshan Andrabi, J&K BJP State Cell Co-Incharge Bilal Parry, BJP District President Baramulla Gh. Hussain Dar, senior party leaders, social activists, youth, and local residents were present on the occasion.

Ashok Koul said that drug addiction has emerged as one of the biggest challenges confronting society, particularly the youth, and emphasized that collective efforts are needed to eliminate this threat from Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the “Nasha Mukht Abhiyaan” is not merely a campaign, but a social responsibility aimed at safeguarding future generations from destruction caused by narcotics.

Ashok Koul stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently emphasized the importance of a drug-free India and urged every section of society to actively participate in this mission. He said that awareness at the grassroots level, strong family support, educational institutions, religious organizations, and social groups all have a crucial role in preventing the spread of drug abuse.

Speaking on the plantation drive, Ashok Koul said that environmental protection is equally important for the well-being of society and future generations. He said that planting trees is a noble responsibility and an effective step towards combating pollution, climate change, and ecological imbalance. He urged people, especially the youth, to actively participate in plantation drives and contribute towards building a greener and cleaner Jammu and Kashmir.

Dr. Darakshan Andrabi said that social reform and public awareness are essential to eradicate drug abuse from society. She urged parents, teachers, and community leaders to remain vigilant and guide the younger generation towards positive and productive activities. She also stressed that environmental conservation and social awareness campaigns must go hand in hand for the betterment of society and future generations.

Bilal Parry and other senior leaders also highlighted the importance of public participation in social and environmental initiatives and reaffirmed their commitment towards building a healthier, greener, and addiction-free society in Jammu and Kashmir.
