#breakthetaboo In Kashmir, menstruation during the holy month of Ramadan is a taboo subject that affects countless women. While religious allowances do exist for women who are menstruating during Ramadan, the stigma and cultural expectations surrounding menstruation can make it challenging for women to fast and pray as required.
Women in Kashmir are often expected to keep their menstruation a secret and to suffer in silence, despite the physical and emotional challenges that come with it. The lack of support and understanding for women who are menstruating during Ramadan only serves to exacerbate the already difficult situation.
Many women are forced to choose between their religious obligations and their own health and well-being during this time. This can lead to feelings of guilt and shame, as well as physical discomfort and exhaustion.
